Choosing the right watch strap size starts with two measurements: your watch’s lug width and your wrist size. Use this guide to find the correct lug width, buckle width, strap length, and overall fit.

Lug Width

Lug width is the distance between the two lugs of your watch case, where the strap attaches. This is the most important measurement when choosing a strap. Measure the gap in millimeters with a ruler or digital caliper. Even a 1 mm difference can affect the fit, so choose the exact size whenever possible.

Lug/Buckle Width

Strap sizes are often shown as two numbers, such as 20/16 mm. The first number is the strap width at the watch lugs, the second number is the width at the buckle. For example, a 20/16 mm strap is 20 mm wide at the watch and 16 mm wide at the buckle, creating a 4 mm taper. A 20/20 mm strap keeps the same width from end to end for a straighter, more substantial look.

Buckle Width

Buckle width is the width of the strap where it connects to the buckle or clasp. This size matters when buying a replacement buckle or deployant clasp. Because many straps taper, the buckle width is often smaller than the lug width. For example, a 20/16 mm strap needs a 16 mm buckle.

Wrist/Strap Size

Wrist/Strap Size determines how the strap wraps around your arm and where the buckle sits. Choosing the correct length ensures the watch remains centered on the wrist while providing enough tail to secure into the keepers. We categorize our lengths as Short, Normal, Long, and Extra-Long to accommodate various wrist circumferences.
